ABOUT TRISH AND GIT

Trish Anderson is best-known as one-third of female harmony trio Git, who together with Matt Ryan on double bass has become one of Australia's most beloved independent bands and successful exports. They have three U.S. tours and a growing following to their name.

Trish co-founded Git in 1997 with Suzannah Espie and Sarah Carroll, and although Git is her first love and main focus, she has continued a solo career and performs her own material regularly around the live music scene in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. She is the most prolific songwriter in Git, and has recently been co-writing for Git as well as outside projects. Trish has a degree in music and has been involved in music and theatre since the 1980s, as well as training as a sound engineer and working in community radio.

Git has taken audiences by storm all over Australia and the United States with their irresistibly gorgeous three-part harmonies, catchy and sassy original songwriting and infectious feel-good performances. Git's full-length, all-original studio album, Flowers, was released in July 2003 on independent Australian label Croxton Records (run by longtime Git fan Mick Thomas of Weddings, Parties, Anything fame), and has enjoyed stunning success. The album recouped on sales within weeks of its release and attracted rave reviews worldwide, as well as solid national airplay. The band has been touring Australia on the national and festival circuits and will return to north America in June-July 2004, with dates in Los Angeles, Austin and Chicago prior to performing on the Canadian summer festival circuit.

PRAISE FOR GIT AND "FLOWERS"

"I'M NOT REALLY A GAMBLING MAN, else I'd be IN the music industry instead of commenting on it safely from the sidelines. But if I WERE a gambling man, I think I'd take a shot with GIT. Surely there's room for a band who conjure Amy Rigby, the Dixie Chicks, Kathleen Edwards, the Roches, and the Andrews Sisters. Sometimes all in one song. They're smart, and smart songwriters; they play well, dress well, and have more sass than a roomful of seventh graders on a sugar high." Grant Alden, Co-Editor, No Depression magazine; President, Americana Music Association

"WHAT A TREAT IT WAS to open the bar door and walk smack into the band, Git. Their sound took me back to the days when great girl groups ruled... from the Andrew Sisters to the Ronnettes! Didn't realize how much I missed that sound til I heard Git doin' it again!" Nora Guthrie, Woody Guthrie Archives

"GIT HAS STYLE, and a sense of fun that runs through their music like Vegemite through a god-fearing army. When you live in Nashville, where musical virtuosity walks hand-in-hand with jaded defeatism, it's a treat to run into three good gals who blend three-part harmonies and swish matching skirts with a sense of joy. Bonus points awarded for the male doghouse bassist with movie villain looks and down-home chops. God bless Git!" Tommy Womack, singer-songwriter-author

"THE SWEETEST three-part harmonies this side of Crosby, Stills & Nash... an exceptional standard of songwriting.. the Dixie Chicks had better watch out!" Rhythms magazine, Australia's national roots music monthly

"A BEGUILING, catchy set of original tunes.. distinguished by delicious three-part harmonies" The Age newspaper, Melbourne

"COUNTRY MUSIC WITH ATTITUDE that can swing from an energetic barn dance knees-up to a bitter lament" Sydney Morning Herald newspaper

"MAYBE IT'S THE FIERCELY INDEPENDENT SPIRIT, maybe it's the affecting harmonies or the sisterly chic of the three strong front women but Git's take on country music warms the cockles of even the most cynical heart" InPress Magazine

"NOTHING SHORT of sheer musical brilliance." Beat Magazine
